Shady Rest Motel

It was a very clean room and clean area. The looks on the outside can be deceiving but the rooms seem to be totally updated and comfortable.

We were on a 2 1/2 week family road trip across the USA from New York to California. We were staying on US Route 6 from Mansfield, PA to Frisco, CO (lots of traffic lights in Ohio!). The idea was to see the country on a local level, to spend our money on local businesses rather than corporate conglomerates as much as possible, many of which have been challenged more in the past year due to Covid-19. The Shady Rest fit the bill perfectly. We paid a few dollars more for the continental breakfast option, which we knew wasn’t going to be any elaborate made to order eggs benedict kind of thing - I mean, we paid an extra $5 for four of us. I called ahead to let them know we were running a bit late. The proprietor mentioned that he had noticed we paid for the continental breakfast, so before we arrived he went to our room and stocked the mini fridge with the breakfast items: juice bottles, fruit cups, as well as granola bars and pre- packaged pastries. Again, it wasn’t fancy, but it was exactly what we needed to start the day before hitting the road. The extra personal touch was well appreciated! As far as the room and the property; clean, comfortable, peaceful, and a great value! Check in was a breeze, a key code, and we never even saw the lobby. We never met the proprietors in person, but would like them to know they are doing things right! The Shady Rest Motel is the poster child example of small businesses that we like to support. Well done!!

We got in super late. The front desk was extremely helpful and had us all set up. The hotel was one third the price of other hotels.
